Employment Pass Document Translation: For Malaysia and Singapore Applications
Certified translation for Employment Pass applications — whether you're a foreign professional coming to Malaysia, or a Malaysian applying for a Singapore Employment Pass through MOM.
What Documents Need Translation?
Employment Pass applications — a foreign professional applying to work in Malaysia, or a Malaysian applying for a Singapore Employment Pass through MOM — commonly require certified translation of supporting documents not originally issued in the destination's accepted language. This page covers both directions.
Coming to Malaysia, or Applying to Singapore?
Coming to Malaysia (foreign nationals)
Malaysia's Expatriate Services Division typically requires supporting documents in Malay or English. If your documents were issued in another language, they generally need certified translation: educational certificates and transcripts, birth certificate (applicant and dependents), marriage certificate (dependent spouse), and passport bio-data page if not already bilingual.
Applying to Singapore (Malaysians)
Malaysia's official documents — Sijil Kelahiran, Sijil Nikah, academic certificates — are issued primarily in Bahasa Melayu. Singapore's MOM requires English versions of any document not already in English, generally as a certified translation.
Send all documents for the main applicant and any dependents together — we quote and turn them around as one batch rather than one document at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Employment Pass documents need to be notarised?
Generally no — most Employment Pass submissions to both Malaysia’s ESD and Singapore’s MOM accept a standard certified translation. Notarisation is more commonly required for ICA submissions such as PR and citizenship applications, not Employment Pass itself. Confirm with your specific application checklist, since requirements can vary by pass category.
Can you translate documents for a dependent's application at the same time?
Yes — send all the documents together (main applicant and dependents) and we’ll quote and turn them around as one batch.
How long does Employment Pass document translation take?
Standard certificates (birth, marriage, single-page academic) are typically turned around in 24–48 hours; longer academic transcripts may take slightly more depending on length.
What if my documents are already in English?
Documents already issued in English generally don’t need translation for either Malaysia’s ESD or Singapore’s MOM. Translation is only needed for documents issued in another language, such as Bahasa Melayu certificates for a Singapore application.
People Also Ask
How much does Employment Pass document translation cost overall?
From RM120 per standard document, with multi-page academic transcripts quoted after review. Send your full document set for the main applicant and dependents together for one batch quote.
Does my employer need to request the translation, or can I order it myself?
Either is fine — many applicants order their own document translations directly, while some employers or agents handle it as part of the application process on the applicant’s behalf.
Can you translate a degree certificate and transcript issued outside Malaysia or Singapore?
Yes, we translate academic documents from any country of issue, in whichever language they were originally issued, for both Malaysian and Singapore Employment Pass applications.
What happens if my Employment Pass application is rejected — do I need to retranslate documents for a resubmission?
No, a certified translation of an unchanged document remains valid for a resubmission; you would only need new translations for any new or updated supporting documents.
Do you translate reference letters or employment contracts as well?
Yes, if your specific application requires a reference letter, prior employment contract, or other supporting document in a language other than Malay or English, we can translate it alongside your civil documents.
